About Referrals, Insurance and Compensation.

If you have further questions please don't be shy. We're here to help you!
No referral needed from your Huisarts

In the Netherlands you do not need a referral from the Huisarts / General Practitioner in order to be checked and treated by a Chiropractor.

It also holds true that you do not need a referral from your Huisarts / General Practitioner to be able to receive compensation back from your healthcare insurance provider.

Payment for your Chiropractic consult

Payment takes place at the front desk of our office. We will then email you the respective invoice of your consult that you can forward directly to your healthcare insurance provider that will reimburse you accordingly.

Do you take insurance?

In the the Netherlands Chiropractic care fall under alternative health care. Chiropractic treatments are reimbursed through the supplementary insurance (aanvullend verzekering). Depending on your personal health care insurance policy you may be reimbursed for Chiropractic or not.

It is useful to contact your health insurer prior to starting care in order to see if you are insured as well as how much you get reimbursed per Chiropractic visit.

With this said we emplore our practice members to not let insurance dictate their health. We will communicate openly with you at the Report of Findings what your Chiropractic care plan recommendations will be.

Our practices and Chiropractors are registered with most healthcare insurance companies.

Further information regarding insurance

We are often asked which insurance company provides the best coverage for Chiropractic care.

At the end of each year it is time to assess which provider can help support you and your family’s health goals in the upcoming year.

Health is your most important asset in life and receiving Chiropractic care is essential to this. For the most up to date information on your fees or coverage we advise you to contact your individual health insurer.

Do you wish to change?
  • Your current health insurance needs to be cancelled. This can be done until 1st  of January of each year and must be done in writing with your current provider.
  • You have until 31st of January to sign up to a new health insurer. Your new insurance will be valid from 1st of January with retroactive effect.
The easy way to transfer your health insurance:

Did you know you can use the transfer service (overstap service)? It means that you don’t have to cancel your old health insurance yourself, but your new insurer will do that for you. Please

note: In order to use the transfer service this needs to be done by January the 1st 2020 with your new insurer. Do not forget to indicate that you want to use the transfer service.

Would you like to switch health insurance, but you would like to wait until January to make a final choice? Then you have to cancel your own health insurance before January 1st. You then have until the 31st of January to sign up for a new insurance. Your new insurance will be valid from the 1st of January with retroactive effect.

Why switch?

You can only switch to a different health insurer once a year. Even if you are choosing to continue the same coverage we recommend you closely review the conditions of your current insurance as changes to coverage occur regularly.

Excess (Eigen risico)

The excess on your health insurance introduced in 2008 applies only to care that is covered by the basic insurance (basis verzekering). Chiropractic is covered by the supplementary part of your health insurance (aanvullende verzekering), so therefore it cannot be charged to you as excess.
